Updated when new firmware ships.

The latest firmware for every Bambu printer on one page, with what changed and whether to update

Current state of the lineup

The newest printer firmware is on the P2S (01.03.00.00, September 21), its first update after a 165-day gap. It adds support for the E3D High-Flow Integrated Hotend and raises travel speed to 1000 mm/s for shorter prints (both need Bambu Studio 2.8.3.66 or later, which so far exists only as a public beta; the current stable Studio is 2.8.2.61), cancels Z-axis motor noise, and loads time-lapse videos faster in Bambu Handy 4.0. One correction: Bambu has removed H2S 01.03.00.00 (dated September 16) from the official H2S release history, and its firmware download page offers 01.02.00.00 as the latest build, so the H2S is listed at 01.02.00.00 (March 31) again. We found no statement from Bambu on why. On September 16, the date of the withdrawn build, Bambu opened H2S 01.02.50.00 as an opt-in public beta (joined in Bambu Handy under Me → Beta Firmware Program). It includes a fix for the auxiliary part cooling fan, whose airflow could slightly deform parts when the heatbed sat level with it; that fix needs Bambu Studio 2.8.4 or later, so far only a public beta. Bambu published R1 firmware 01.01.00.00 on September 22, the day pre-orders opened (shipping estimated for November), and the A2L's Print-Then-Cut build (01.01.05.00, September 3) is the next freshest printer update. At the other end, the H2S and the P1P/P1S now wait longest, with no new firmware since their March releases (day counter below).

Update now or wait?

Bambu's own pages tell you what changed; they never tell you whether to install it. Our honest defaults:

  • Point releases (last digit pairs): install. They are mostly fixes and security patches, though some carry features (A2L 01.01.05.00 added Print-Then-Cut); waiting buys you nothing.
  • Major version jumps: give it a week. New feature waves occasionally ship regressions; the firmware announcement threads surface problems within days. Nothing about printing forces you to be first.
  • LAN-mode and OrcaSlicer users: read the notes first. Since the January 2025 Authorization Control change, firmware updates can alter how third-party software reaches the printer. Background: What is Bambu Connect? and the AGPL dispute.
  • X1C owners: install it. The August 2026 build is the first in 237 days and carries security fixes, so there is no reason to sit it out. The series is EOL, but Bambu's schedule keeps feature updates and bug fixes coming until May 31, 2027 and security patches until May 31, 2029.
  • Betas: opt-in only. Bambu announces public betas in its forum, and you join them in Bambu Handy under Me → Beta Firmware Program; they do not install over the air by default. Skip them on machines you rely on.

How this page works

We check the official release-history pages for all thirteen firmware lines, twelve for the printers plus the R1 laser, and update this table when a new version ships; our news radar covers firmware announcements within hours, and notable releases get a full article (like Bambu Studio 2.8.1 on the software side). For the update procedure itself, including offline updates from SD card, see our firmware update guide.

Source: official Bambu Lab Wiki firmware release histories for all thirteen firmware lines (linked per row), checked October 3, 2026. Firmware versions and dates are Bambu's; status labels and update guidance are ours. The X1-series EOL date (March 31, 2026) is per Bambu's product lifecycle announcement.
