P2S vs H2C

Last updated daily price tracker

$549 enclosed all-rounder vs $2,199 multi-material system

Which one should I buy?

The P2S covers enclosed hobby printing; the H2C runs seven materials per job via Vortek at about four times the price (the H2C's AMS included). Unless multi-material production is your workflow, the P2S plus a full AMS is the better spend.

Strengths: P2S vs H2C

P2S

  • Enclosed printing with occasional multicolor
  • Best value per capability

The H2C is sold only as an AMS Combo, so its $2,199 includes an AMS. Like-for-like, it costs $1,450 more than the P2S Combo at $749; against the standalone P2S, the $1,650 gap includes the AMS.

Hobby ceiling vs production floor

The P2S handles up to 20 colors (4× AMS 2 Pro + 4× AMS HT) with purge waste, which is fine for hobby multicolor. The H2C avoids most of that purge waste structurally: six swappable hotends plus one fixed, each material keeping its own melt zone, plus H-series speed and chamber.

The gap between purge-waste-annoying and purge-waste-expensive is exactly the gap between these two buyers. Hobbyists tolerate it; production counts it.

The dual-nozzle middle

The H2D at $1,549 halves the purge problem with two nozzles. The H2C is for jobs where even two dedicated melt zones are not enough.

What changed

Newest first, from this page's version history. Only changes to text you can read here; date refreshes and reshuffled reading links are left out.

  1. H2C price comparison now like-for-like against the P2S Combo at $749, a $1,450 gap (was the $450 Vortek premium over the H2D AMS Combo); H2C build volume marked as right nozzle.
  2. H2C AMS support listed as AMS 2 Pro / AMS HT, up to 25 colors; the text now gives the P2S up to 20 colors (was 16) and says the H2C avoids most purge waste (was eliminates it).
  3. P2S AMS support corrected to AMS, AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT, up to 20 slots (was full AMS, 16 colors).

Earlier changes

  1. Added that the H2C is sold only as an AMS Combo, so its $2,199 includes an AMS (Vortek premium over the $1,749 H2D AMS Combo: $450); H2C filtration listed as G3 pre-filter, H12 HEPA and carbon.
  2. H2C price back at $2,199 after the $2,099 cut.
  3. H2C price now $2,099 (was $2,199), with $2,199 shown struck through (was $2,399).
  4. P2S filter spec corrected: activated carbon, no HEPA (was listed as HEPA plus carbon).
