Bambu Lab P2S vs Creality K3

Purge with one nozzle or swap between four: a Bambu you can buy today against a Creality you can pre-order

Published Bambu prices from the US store, checked October 21, 2026

Which one should I buy?

Buy the P2S if you want to print this month: the P2S Combo ($749) prints four colors through an AMS, but it purges filament on every color change. The Creality K3 ($849, US pre-order, shipping estimated from November 2, 2026) swaps between four nozzles instead, which is the better idea for frequent four-color prints, but every K3 figure is still Creality's own claim. If purge waste is your main complaint and you can wait for the first owner reports, keep the K3 on your list; otherwise the P2S is the safer buy.

Caution

The K3 has not shipped yet

The K3 is a US pre-order. Creality's store gives November 2, 2026 as the estimated start of shipping, and EU availability is expected in December 2026. We have not tested one, and every K3 figure on this page is Creality's own specification or claim. We will update this comparison when first owner reports appear.

One nozzle and an AMS, or four nozzles and a swap

Both printers print four colors, and they do it in opposite ways. The P2S has a single nozzle. With an AMSBambu's filament changer. An AMS 2 Pro holds four spools and feeds one at a time to the printer's nozzle. attached, a color change means pulling the old filament back, feeding the new one and pushing filament through the hot nozzle until the new color runs clean. That purgeFilament the printer flushes through the nozzle after a color change until the old color is gone. It ends up as waste. costs time and filament on every change, and on a print with many color changes per layer it adds up.

Where four colors meet: on the P2S the AMS 2 Pro merges four spools into one shared tube and hotend and purges on every change; on the K3 four hotends hang on the X rail, each keeps its filament, and the toolhead carries the one in use, a swap Creality puts at about five seconds4 in, 1 outShared:tube and hotendPurge, every changeX railIn useParked, each keepsits filamentBambu P2S and AMS 2 Pro1 nozzle, 4 spools in the AMSCreality K3, KliTek4 hotends, swap in about 5 s (claim)K3 values are Creality claims Where four colors meet: on the P2S the AMS 2 Pro merges four spools into one shared tube and hotend and purges on every change; on the K3 four hotends hang on the X rail, each keeps its filament, and the toolhead carries the one in use, a swap Creality puts at about five seconds4 in, 1 outShared:tube and hotendPurge, every changeBambu P2S and AMS 2 Pro1 nozzle, 4 spools in the AMSX railIn useParked, each keepsits filamentCreality K3, KliTek4 hotends, swap in about 5 s (claim)K3 values are Creality claims

The K3 gives each of its four filaments its own nozzle. Creality calls the system KliTek: the printer parks one nozzle and picks up the next in about 5 seconds (the figure in its spec table; the page description says 4.8 seconds). Because no nozzle ever carries two colors, there is nothing to flush. Creality claims up to 80% less print time and up to 85% less filament than single-nozzle multicolor, with a footnote that the no-purge promise applies to setups with four colors or fewer.

The idea is not new to Bambu buyers, and none of the four ways to print four colors is entirely free:

PrinterHow it changes colorBetween colorsUS price
Bambu P2S ComboOne nozzle; the AMS 2 Pro unloads one filament and loads the nextA full purge on every change$749
Creality K3Four hotends on the X rail; the toolhead picks up the next in about 5 secondsNo purge with up to four colors (Creality's claim); whether it primes after a swap is not stated$849, pre-order
Bambu H2CVortek: one fixed hotend plus a rack of six swappable induction hotendsA small extrusion onto the prime tower, 15 mm³ per change in Purge-Saving mode (Bambu wiki)$2,199, AMS Combo only
Snapmaker U1Four complete toolheads in a dock, a swap in about five seconds (Snapmaker)A small prime tower; up to 85% less waste (Snapmaker's claim)$749

Bambu's own hotend changer still primes a little after each swap, and so does the U1. Whether the K3 primes after a nozzle swap, and how much, Creality does not say; treat its "no purge" as a claim to check once owners print with it.

What the K3 claims, and what it leaves out

The headline numbers are Creality's: a 260 mm cube, 500 mm/s, 20,000 mm/s², a 300°C hotend and a 100°C bed. None of this is independently measured yet, and the fine print on the product page matters more:

Where the P2S is simply ahead today

The P2S is on sale now: you can order it, read what owners report and know what you get. It ships enclosed with an activated carbon filter. Bambu rates the chamber Passive (~50°C), with no heater, which is enough for ABS and ASA in a warm room without buying anything extra. Its bed reaches 110°C, and it is rated at 600 mm/s; rated speeds are a ceiling, real quality profiles run far below both machines' numbers.

Where each printer stands on October 22, 2026: the P2S has been on sale since October 2025; the K3 is a US pre-order since October 2026 with an estimated ship date of November 2, 2026 and EU availability expected in December 202620252026OctNovDecJanFebMarAprMayJunJulAugSepOctNovDecTodayOn sale, owner reportsPre-orderShips Nov 2 (est.)EU expected in DecP2SK3Month cells. It also scales further on color count. Creality lists 4 filament slots for the K3; the P2S takes several AMS units, up to 20 slots. And it sits inside the Bambu ecosystem: Bambu Studio and the MakerWorld model library are built around these printers, and an AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT you buy now also works on the X2D. The price of all that is the purge. Every color change on the P2S throws filament away, and on detailed four-color prints that waste is the honest argument for the K3.

Get the P2S if...

  • You want to print this month, not after a pre-order
  • Most prints are one or two colors and multicolor is occasional
  • You want ABS or ASA without buying an extra cover
  • You already use Bambu Studio, MakerWorld or an AMS
  • You want to start without an AMS at $549

Get the K3 if...

  • You print four-color jobs often and the purge waste is what bothers you
  • You can wait for shipping and for the first owner reports
  • You want mixed nozzle sizes or lots of TPU and accept Creality's add-ons for it
  • You prefer an open, rootable printer and Creality Print

And the X2D?

The X2D Combo ($899) costs $50 more than the K3 and also has more than one nozzle, but it solves a different problem. Its second, auxiliary nozzle keeps two materials apart, typically a model material and a support material, so switching between those two needs no flush. Four colors still have to share two nozzles, and every change on the same nozzle is an unload, load and purge through the AMS, just like on the P2S. The extra money buys other things: an actively heated 65°C chamber, a 120°C bed, HEPA filtration, a 1,000 mm/s rating and room for up to 25 colors. For engineering filaments and soluble supports the X2D is the stronger machine at this price; for four-color prints with little waste it does not replace the K3's idea.

More on that pair: P2S vs X2D.

Our pick: P2S Combo, for now

For most buyers the P2S Combo is the better purchase today: it ships, it is enclosed, it costs less and the Bambu ecosystem around it is proven. The K3 is the more interesting multicolor design on paper and the right one to watch if you print four-color models often. Once owners confirm Creality's purge and speed claims, that can change.

Our view comes from the spec sheets, the store pages and Bambu's documentation, not from a test of either printer. The P2S page collects what owners report; for the K3 that evidence does not exist yet.

Does the Creality K3 really print multicolor without purging?

That is Creality's claim, and only for up to four colors: each filament has its own nozzle, so a color change is a nozzle swap of about 5 seconds instead of a flush. Creality has not said whether the printer primes a small amount after each swap, as Bambu's H2C does with a prime tower. Independent measurements will only be possible once retail units ship.
