Which one should I buy?

Quick answer: Get the P1S ($369): it is the right pick for nearly all buyers. Get the X1E ($2,499 at its 2023 launch; Bambu US now lists $2,899 incl. AMS) only if you need enterprise PA-CF and PC production; it listed at over 6x the P1S's price, serves a completely different purpose, and is discontinued as of March 2026.

The X1E is discontinued (March 2026). Bambu ended the X1 series on 31 March 2026. For a new enclosed engineering printer with an active heated chamber, look at the H2S ($1,199) or H2D instead.

P1S

  • Over 6x cheaper at $369, handles PLA, PETG, ABS and ASA for a fraction of the X1E's cost
  • Full enclosure with activated carbon filter for ABS/ASA odors (no HEPA stage)
  • Full AMS compatible, same multi-color ecosystem as the X1E
  • Excellent fit for hobbyists, makers, and small businesses not requiring engineering materials

X1E

  • Active 60°C chamber heating and a 320°C hotend for PA-CF, PC and PPS (the P1S has no chamber heater)
  • Three-stage air filtration: G3 pre-filter, H12 HEPA and activated carbon, for particles and VOCs
  • Hardened steel nozzle and extruder gears for fiber-filled filaments
  • Enterprise networking: Ethernet, WPA2-Enterprise Wi-Fi and a LAN-only mode

The P1S handles PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, and ASA well, covering the vast majority of consumer and small-business use cases; Bambu rates PA and PC only as capable on it and does not recommend carbon- or glass-filled filaments with its stainless steel nozzle. The X1E adds a chamber actively heated to 60°C and a 320°C hardened-steel hotend, and Bambu lists PA-CF, PC and PPS for it. The P1S enclosure has no heater.

The X1E also filters particles: a G3 pre-filter and an H12 HEPA filter sit in front of its activated carbon, where the P1S has an activated carbon filter only.

P1S is enough if...

  • PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA cover your material needs
  • You're not running production-volume engineering parts
  • You're a hobbyist, maker, or small business
  • Budget matters

X1E makes sense if...

  • You need PA-CF, PC, or PPS parts
  • You're running an engineering department or print farm
  • Workplace VOC/particle filtration is a requirement
  • You need enterprise networking (Ethernet, LAN-only mode)
