Which one should I buy?

Quick answer: The P1S at $369 is $180 cheaper than the P2S at $549, which makes it the value pick and the P2S the performance pick. The P2S is newer and better in every spec that differs, so if $180 is not decisive for you, buy the P2S. If it is, the P1S still prints PLA, PETG, ABS and ASA in the same size; only carbon- and glass-filled filaments call for the P2S's hardened-steel nozzle.

The P2S is the successor, not a sidegrade

Bambu released the P2S as the P1S's successor and kept the P1S on sale: it prints faster and takes twice as many AMS units (up to 8 with 20 slots vs 4 on the P1S; both run the AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT). Pricing has since flipped the order. The P1S sells for $369, $180 under the P2S, which makes the P1S the budget buy and the P2S the performance buy. If the newer motion system and the extra AMS capacity matter to you, that $180 is well spent.

Both printers share the same build volume and enclosure philosophy. Neither has Lidar. The X1C had it, but Bambu ended X1C production on March 31, 2026, and new units are down to leftover distributor stock. For engineering materials, look at the X2D or the H2S instead.

Get the P1S if...

  • You want the same build volume and PLA/PETG/ABS/ASA printing for $180 less
  • Someone is giving it to you

Get the P2S if...

  • You're buying new and the extra $180 is not decisive for you
  • You want the newer, faster P-series machine
  • You want faster prints and longer platform support

The used market has been overtaken by Bambu itself: a new P1S costs $369 with a full warranty, so used units only make sense well under $270.
