A1 mini vs X2D
$219 starter vs $649 enclosed tech, three tiers apart
Which one should I buy?
These are three product tiers apart: the A1 mini is the open $219 starter; the X2D is the enclosed 2026 mid-ranger with active chamber and auxiliary nozzle. Buy the mini to learn and play; buy the X2D if materials beyond PLA/PETG are already on your roadmap.

What three tiers of price buy
The A1 mini prints PLA and PETG in a 180 mm cube, open, simply, cheaply. The X2D prints nearly everything a 256 mm enclosed printer can: ABS/ASA reliably in its actively heated 65°C chamber, with an auxiliary nozzle and up to 25 colors via AMS 2 Pro / AMS HT on the newest platform.
The mini is the right first printer for most people; the X2D is the right first printer for people who already know they need engineering materials or serious multi-material work and would otherwise upgrade within a year.
