P1P vs P1S
The discontinued open one vs the $399 enclosed one
Which one should I buy?
The P1P is discontinued (EOL); the P1S at $399 costs less today than the P1P's $699 launch price and adds the enclosure. Nobody should buy a P1P new; used, it only makes sense clearly under $250.

EOL math
The P1P was the open-frame budget CoreXY that made the P series popular, sold originally at $699 with side panels as a DIY upgrade. It is discontinued; support continues, but the value equation is gone: the fully enclosed P1S now sells for $399.
The only live question is the used market. A P1P in good shape is a fine PLA/PETG machine, and its modding scene (printed side panels, handles) remains active. But price discipline matters when the enclosed successor is $399 new with warranty.

The real successor
Spec-wise the P2S ($549) is the modern P-series pick; the P1S at $399 is the value one. Either beats buying discontinued stock at typical asking prices.
