Which one should I buy?

Quick answer: Get the P1P (or its successor, the P2S at $549 new) in almost every case. Get the X1E ($2,499 at its 2023 launch; Bambu US now lists $2,899 incl. AMS) only if you need industrial PA-CF and PC production; if you needed it, you'd know. Both are now discontinued: the P1P (Feb 2026) and the X1E (March 2026).

Daily price history

P1P

  • Launched at $699 against the X1E's $2,499, far better value for enthusiasts
  • CoreXY kinematics with full AMS support, excellent for PLA, PETG, and ABS once enclosed with the official kit
  • Upgrade path via Bambu's P1P Enclosure Kit (panels plus the required control-board fan) for ABS/ASA
  • Sufficient for the vast majority of hobbyist and prototyping use cases

X1E

  • Active 60°C chamber, well suited to PA-CF, PC, and PPS at production quality (the current H2S, H2D, and X2D also have active heated chambers)
  • 320°C hotend for PPA-CF/GF and PPS (the P1P stops at 300°C)
  • Three-stage air filtration: G3 pre-filter, H12 HEPA and activated carbon, for particles and VOCs
  • Enterprise networking: Ethernet, WPA2-Enterprise Wi-Fi and a LAN-only mode
Both printers are discontinued. The P1P was retired in February 2026 and the X1E in March 2026, so this comparison is now for the used market. For a new budget machine, the P2S ($549) replaces the P1P; for a new enclosed engineering printer, the H2S ($1,199 street) or H2D replaces the X1E.

The X1E launched at $2,499 in 2023 (Bambu US now lists $2,899 incl. AMS), more than three times the P1P's $699, and is designed for industrial-grade materials, with a chamber actively heated to 60°C. The P1P is excellent for PLA, PETG, and basic ABS once enclosed (Bambu requires its control-board fan in an enclosed P1P). If you're choosing between these: you almost certainly want the P1P. The X1E is for specific industrial use cases, you'd know if you needed it.
