Quick answer: Get the A1 ($299) in almost every case. Get the X1E only if you run an engineering production environment that needs PA-CF or PC; it launched at over 8x the price ($2,499 in 2023; Bambu US now lists $2,899 incl. AMS) and is discontinued as of March 2026.

Which one should I buy?

Almost certainly the A1 ($299). The X1E is an industrial engineering printer costing over 8x more ($2,499 at its 2023 launch; Bambu US now lists $2,899 incl. AMS), built for PA-CF and PC production, not hobbyist printing. It is also discontinued as of March 2026.

The X1E is discontinued (March 2026). Bambu ended the X1 series on 31 March 2026. For a new enclosed engineering printer with an active heated chamber, look at the H2S ($1,199) or H2D instead.

A1

  • Over 8x cheaper at its current $299, far better value for PLA/PETG/TPU printing
  • Quick-swap nozzle and a simpler consumer setup
  • No enclosure needed for everyday materials, simpler setup
  • AMS Lite compatible for 4-color prints without complexity

X1E

  • Active 60°C chamber heating, which Bambu pitches for warp-prone materials such as ABS and PC
  • Three-stage air filtration (G3 pre-filter, H12 HEPA, activated carbon) for particles and VOCs
  • 320°C hotend (A1: 300°C) for PPA-CF/GF and PPS
  • Enterprise networking: Ethernet, WPA2-Enterprise Wi-Fi and a LAN-only mode
Short answer

If you're comparing these two, you almost certainly want the A1. The X1E is an enterprise engineering printer targeting PA-CF, PC, and PPS production. The A1 is a consumer printer for PLA/PETG. They don't meaningfully compete.

The A1 is excellent at what it does: PLA, PETG, and TPU for hobbyists. It's not designed for engineering materials and doesn't need to be. Practically no one should be choosing between these, if you're a hobbyist, get the A1.
